Minutes
Previous minutes approved with no corrections from the
Board.
Old Business
PSCC Workshop at SIGGRAPH 2005
Jeff attended the PSCC workshop. It turns out that he
did not pick up our materials as Neves had told Fran Z
that he had. We will get them shipped from ACM SIGGRAPH.
* Fran will follow up on this.
Email Addresses from ACM
We can get them. We will ask for them when we need
them, before the Electronic Theatre Meeting.
Membership
Herc gave Jeff and Fran the electronic version of the
membership list. Thanks, Herc!
Donorship
No new news on the possible donors contacted by Herc.
Bylaws
Fran has them, but she forgot to bring them.
* Fran will mail them to the officers.
New Business
Board Document Format
We agreed that we would use Open Office for all our
documents that need to be exchanged.
Minutes
Demetra asked if the minutes could make sure to call
out the action items. It was agreed to make an action
item list at the bottom of the minutes.
Committee Reports
Programming Committee
The committee met on August 4, 2005, at ITT Technical
Institute. See attached report.
Membership
Fran will manage the membership list on-line.
Andrew gave Fran the latest membership information
that he had,
including new members.
Demetra compiled a list of emails of people interested
in Cascade SIGGRAPH.
* Demetra will email list of emails to Fran Z
* Fran will email Demetra from her gmail account
We need to standardize our membership kit and have it
available for
membership drives. We need 2 kits. Apparently
Michael has some
bins with membership / SIGGRAPH supplies in it.
The kits need the following:
– SIGGRAPH materials
– Cascade SIGGRAPH banner
– Membership forms
– Pens
– Clipboards
– Tape (strong tape for taping up signs, and regular
tape as well)
* Demetra will put the kits together.
* Demetra will get the bins from Michael
The board agreed that we would now be firm about
letting people in the door.
If they are not members on our list, they will need to
pay at the door, join,
or not be admitted.
Volunteer Committee
We need to start up a core of volunteers to help with
event admission.
Andrew will handle the money.
* Fran will ask Michael if he would like to be the
Volunteer Chair.
Events
Jeff reports from the Professional & Students Chapters
Committee Workshop at SIGGRAPH 2005 that we now must
hold 6 events per year to be considered a chapter in
good standing.
Event Committee Report (Demetra reporting)
The Event Committee met on Aug 4, 2005, at ITT
Technical Institute.
Electronic Theatre
* Demetra will contact Sam Black (ET Producer) to make
arrangements to show the entire ET in Portland
Past places the ET has been shown:
PCC Workforce, Laurelhurst Theatre (minimum age is 21),
Hollywood Theatre (last year)
Christina Hale (rchale@juno.com) is calling around to
find a venue. High schools and college theatres are
possibilities. The plan is to nail everything down
before the end of August.
The budget for renting a theatre is $300.
* Andrew will email the previous years costs to Jeff.
BYOA – Bring Your Own Animation
We would like to do this in early October.
Michael Smith is in charge of this and we’d like to
hold it at the Art Institute.
Moongirl Presentation – Laika Studios (formerly Vinton
Studios)
Fran will see if people from the Moongirl Production
could give us a presentation about their new short.
Possibly later in September.
SIGGRAPH Talks
See about getting talks from people who are speaking
at LA SIGGRAPH. Find people who will be speaking at
SIGGRAPH 2006 and ask them to give a talk here first
(pre-SIGGRAPH).
Web Design
Web Design talk by Linsey Bell of DarkWater Studios.
Public Relations
A group called “Liason” used to do our PR. We need to
find out if they will still do it.
Demetra knows 2 people who would be interested in
helping out with PR.
* Demetra will contact the people she knows to ask if
they will help with PR.
* Will the person who knows about our old PR deal
please give Demetra the information to follow up with
them?
Website
Needs to be fixed.
* Fran will look into this
Linsey Bell offered to help out on setting up a way
for members to join on-line.
* Fran will look into getting a page/form/mailing list
set up for announcements, so people can add themselves
to the announcement list.
We’d like a bulletin board or xml/html on our website.
Herc suggested that we host a twiki page for suggestions
from members
* Herc & Andrew will look into setting this up
We’d like to add a search capability to the website.
Next Meeting
Our next meeting will be Tuesday, September 13th, at
12:30pm at the Daily Cafe in The Pearl.
