Web Design Meeting

The last meeting went fantastic.  The venue was awesome, though small.  The speaker knew his stuff and the format was good.

We need to send a thank you note to our speaker and venue.  Who should do that?

* Fran will ask Demetra if she sent a thank you note for the Sept meeting.  If not, Fran can do it.  She will need the contact info from Demetra.

Andrew mentioned that there was an interesting SIGGRAPH pioneer at the meeting.  He will get his name and see if he would be willing to speak.  Michael might know who he is.

* Jeff will find out who the interesting SIGGRAPH pioneer is and ask him to speak at a future meeting.

Electronic Theatre Meeting

Jeff talked to Sam Black.  The reel is in Japan right now.  We need to come up with a date and Sam will try to work with us on it.

Jeff told us that Demetra has called some theatres.  It is about $70/hour for a 2 hour slot, and we need 3 hours.

We need a minimum of a month lead time, so early December would work well for us.  Demetra recommends Dec 4th which is a Sunday afternoon.

We have the SVR (SIGGRAPH Video Review) which has the all the other animation programs on it.  We could show it on a monitor before the ET.  We will show the SVR if we can’t get the reel.

We need to:

– Secure a theatre

– Get the PR folks involved

* Jeff will ask Demetra to look into the cost for arranging a monitor to show the SVR before the show.

* Fran will post the info as soon as she gets it if she is in town.

Jobs Talk

Fran proposed a jobs talk for March / spring time.

* Fran will look into setting this up.

Membership

Fran asks, “Did Michael or Jeff send email about the membership extension to the members?”

Fran noted that we should have a membership table at 3DV events.

Website

Fran asks, “What is the process for sending job announcements?”  The topic was discussed, but not decided on.  We decided to table the topic of mailing lists until the next meeting.  We need to set up a “talk” email list.

It was agreed that Jeff will send out 3 day and 1 day meeting reminders.

Financial Report

Andrew gave the financial report.  We have $755.78 in the bank.

Next Meeting

Jeff will set a date that most people can attend, at

12:30pm at the Daily Cafe in The Pearl.
