Events

Electronic Theatre, December 5th 2005, Hollywood Theatre

Demetra reports that the meeting description went to Liaison and that they have sent press releases to various papers and organizations.

* Demetra will send more announcements to more places:  ASIFA, Chi-Foo, Willamette Week, Oregonian, Portland Mercury, on-line at Tribe

* Fran will send an announcement to Laika.

* Jeff will send an announcement to ITT.

* Michael will send an announcement to the Art Institute, Paddig (Gaming group), PSU, OGI, UofP

* Demetra will send new publicity info to the Board

* Everyone: please email Jeff with any further suggestions of where to advertise our meeting.

What will we need for our meeting?

– Table with subscription information and membership information

– A monitor to show the SIGGRAPH Video Review (SVR)

– Andrew will stand outside with the membership list

– Fran will man the membership table

– Michael will give Andrew the cash box

– Demetra will float at the event

– Demetra will make a flyer for a logo contest

– Andrew suggested that we have a program for the meeting with the chapter contact info on the back, as well as mailing lists and membership forms.

Upcoming Meetings

We decided to have meetings on the 3rd Monday of every month, if possible.

We should all try to get full confirmation from speakers and venues by 2 weeks before the meeting.

– Jeffrey Williams will talk to Adam Lake about speaking on computer graphics at Intel.

– Jeff will follow up on SIGGRAPH 2005 speakers who live locally.

Job meeting

– Fran proposes this meeting for March

January Meeting, Moongirl Talk

We need a good speaker for this meeting.  Fran suggested having Laika speak about Moongirl on January 23rd.  The director Henry Sellick and the Visual Effects Supervisor Dan Casey seemed receptive.

A possible location is at the Laika studios.

* Fran will put together a formal proposal for the January meeting.

February Meeting, Bring Your Own Art, February 27, 2006

Michael and Demetra are working on this meeting.

We need to make sure that people bring art.  The Art Institute is a possible venue.

* Michael will follow up on getting a venue for the February meeting.

March Meeting, Jobs Talk, March 20, 2006

Fran proposes a meeting on jobs at the March meeting.  She will work with the Board in finding speakers for this.

* Fran will check the date for this meeting to make sure it doesn’t conflict with Spring Break.

Membership

We have some new members.  Yay!

* Demetra will send Fran the names of the new members via email, and snail mail or give her the forms at the December meeting.

Public Relations

Here is a list of places to announce our meetings:

Andrew is in charge of the jobs email list.  Fran wants to send the jobs list to the recruiters to add to their regular mailings.  The Board decided to keep the list open to all interested, not just members, until the next season.
