The Global Game Jam (GGJ) is the world’s largest game jam event (game creation) taking place around the world at physical locations. Think of it as a hackathon focused on game development.
Friday evening at the Art Institute of Portland starts with a keynote, icebreakers, idea generating activities, and team forming (approx. 1–2 hours). After jammers are satisfied with their ideas and teams, we work on games until we approach our deadline on Sunday afternoon, when we can share our games with each other in a showcase setting! To support a fun, inspiring environment, jammers are welcome to stay on site (48 hour access) at the Art Institute for the entire weekend.
Jammers are considered officially registered when they have a ticket via the Eventbrite site. Global Game Jam website registration will occur the weekend of the jam. We have room for 100 jammers. If more than 100 people come to the event and plan to participate for the entire weekend, Eventbrite site registrants will be accepted first, then PIGSquad Facebook group registrants, then it’s first-come-first-serve. Those who plan to jam remotely or only spend a small portion of their weekend on site at the jam are not required to claim an Eventbrite ticket. Observers are welcome, but should not sign up for a ticket (RSVP’ing on Facebook is fine.)
