Minutes

Minutes from October (10/5/05, 10/21/05) and November (11/21/05), and December (12/9/05) were not approved, and will be approved by email before the next meeting.

* Fran will send out the minutes link so the Board can vote by email to approve the past minutes for 10/5/05, 10/21/05, 11/21/05, and 12/9/05.

Upcoming Meetings

We’ve decided to set up a Programming Committee mailing list.  Andrew will manage it.

* Andrew will set up a Programming Committee email list for Demetra.

The Board also decided that we would send at least 2 announcements before a meeting.  One will be sent 1 week before, and one will be sent 3 days before.

Venues

Does FreeGeek have a good meeting space for us?

* Demetra called on the meeting space at Free Geek.  She will check it out in person and let the Board know.

Fran asked if the chapter had a copy of our certificate of insurance for our venues or equipment rental.

* Jeff will contact ACM SIGGRAPH (ask Fran McAfee) to find out what the process is for getting a certificate of insurance from the ACM.

Andrew asks, “What about a meeting at our local library?”

* Andrew will check out the local library as a potential venue.

January, OMSI Animation Event, January 14-15, 2006

The OMSI Animation Showcase event is this Saturday and Sunday (January 14 & 15th).  Jeff has left voicemails with OMSI.  We will need 1 table and a TV.  We will need to crew the table between 10am and 4pm on both days.  Jeff can do Saturday, and Demetra can help out Sunday and will ask some people to volunteer.  We will have 8 time slots of 3 shifts. 10-1 and 1-4

We will need some sign up forms, and a banner or poster.

* Demetra and Jeff will ask for volunteers for staffing the table at the OMSI event.

* Jeff will send an email about the OMSI event to the announcements list.

January Meeting, January 30th, 2006

The original January meeting (Laika speaking on Moongirl) has been moved to February because Laika needed more time to set up this meeting.

Now we need to find a new meeting for January.  Demetra proposed a “CG Social Hour / Meet and Greet” for this month.  She proposes Huber’s during their Happy Hour.  Lots of the bars downtown have cheap happy hour food. The question is, can our younger members get in?

* Demetra will find out if there are age restrictions on holding the January event at a bar/restaurant downtown.

* Fran will contact the owner of Zaytoons (on Alberta) RE: doing a social meeting with Animation Videos.

February Meeting, Moongirl Talk, February 27, 2006

Fran Zandonella reports.

We still need a venue for this meeting.  This venue should hold 50 – 100 people.  We need a venue for this meeting ASAP (by middle of next week, 1/18/06).

What is our budget for this meeting, specifically for venues?

The Board decided that we would start with $100 for the budget for this meeting.  We are hoping that Laika will contribute to the venue, AV, and catering costs.

* Demetra will continue checking for venues for the February meeting.

On January 18th, we want to send out announcements to the local media.

* Demetra will put together a list of school contacts.

March Meeting, Jobs Talk, March 20, 2006

We need a venue and we need speakers on the following topics:  Artists Portfolio, Gaming, and Resume.  We have 2 speakers:  Patrick Van Pelt speaking about demo reels, and Tom Knott speaking about resumes.  Andrew volunteered to speak about working in the Gaming industry.

* Demetra will start checking for venues for the March meeting.

April Meeting, Bring Your Own Art, April 4, 2006

The venue for this meeting will be the Art Institute.

SIGGRAPH 2006 Conference, July 30 – Aug 3, 2006

The deadline for signing up to become a Student Volunteer for the S’2006 Conference in Boston is coming up on February 24th.

Future Meetings

May and June

We need speakers for the May and June meetings.  Perhaps Adam Lake or Scott Crabtree could speak on their research?  Scott worked in the old video game business and now works at Intel.

* Demetra will email the Programming Committee minutes to the Board.

Logo Contest

We have not gotten many entries for this contest.  We need to send out more announcements for this.

* Demetra will send out some reminder email about the Logo Contest to the announcements list.

* Fran will post info about the Logo Contest on the web.

Membership

The Board approves reasonable expenditures for membership supplies.

Fran is working on getting out all the new member cards.

P.O. Box

Fran asks if we can get a PO Box to use for sending the membership forms to.  Where are they going to now?  (Apparently to Michael’s house at: 275 S.E. 24th Ave., Hillsboro, OR 97123.)

* Fran and Andrew will look into getting a PO Box for receiving the membership forms.

Financial Report

Our finances remain unchanged from December.

Website

Fran recently updated the website with our upcoming meeting schedule and past events.

Next Meeting

Our next meeting is Monday, February 13, 2006, at

12:30pm at a restaurant chosen by Andrew.

* Andy will check out the Mexican restaurant he had in mind and email the Board.
